Rocktober? Shocktober? Mohawktober? Here at ComicsAlliance, we just can’t decide what we want to celebrate this month, so we’re bringing you a different monthly theme every day! Today, we’re celebrating the second most brutal fictional death metal band of all time, Dethklok, seen above performing the pretty amazing act of poisoning readers with their own blood in the pages of Eric Powell and Brendon Small’s Dethklok vs. The Goon! Join us for our favorite track from Nathan Explosion, Toki Wartooth, Skwisgaar Skwigelf, Pickles (the drummer) and William Murderface after the cut!

You’d have to go a long way to find someone who likes the death metal-themed Adult Swim cartoon show Metalocalypse as much as Iskreeeeak-ing do. In fact, you might have to go as far as Seattle, or wherever the the assorted members of the recently reformed Soundgarden call home these days. The grunge icons have proven their love by recruiting Metalocalypse co-creator Brendon Small to oversee the clip for “Black Rain,” a Badmotorfinger-era outtake that features on Soundgarden’s upcoming retrospective CD Telephantasm.

In truth, the video is not as funny asMetalocalypse—or funny at all, really. But it does boast giant monsters, a huge ‘Garden-controlled robot thingummybob, Metalocalypsestars Dethklok, and a nicely epic and phantasmagorical vibe. It also features a hard-to-miss plug for Guitar Hero, the latest version of which—Warriors of Rock—is released September 28 and is initially available for purchase with copies of Telephantasm included.
