Sadly I do not think they can easily control people (Spammers) from signing up..

or worse the spammer just randomily generating @gmail.com address that do not even exist..

yeah, i didn't even think about that...i'm sure they'll get wise to your ways, soon enough, though and soon you'll have to ban every email address.
